Early editions of the London Pharmacopoeia contained a number of bizarre remedies but a more scientific approach was taken for the 1721 edition. This was continued for the present edition in which only those preparations were retained which had received the approval of the majority of the Pharmacopoeia committee. Amongst the ingredients dropped for this edition were human fat, spider-webs, moss from human skull, unicornÕs horn, virgin's milk etc.(Encyclopedia Britannica 11th edition). £450 £300 |
